Got an appable-characters question from Yugioh, where the plot's made up and the continuity doesn't matter.
Three thousand years before canon proper begins, Pharaoh Atem fights a thief named Bakura, and defeats him. Pharaoh Atem is explicitly the Atem/"other Yugi" we have in game, but when it comes to people named Bakura stuff gets....muddled.
The character currently in-game as the "Ring-Spirit" is an amalgamation of the evil god Zorc with a piece of the thief Bakura's soul. Thief Bakura has his own distinct motives and characterization, though elements of his personality (mostly swagger) transfer to the Spirit of the Ring. The Ring-Spirit sometimes identifies with the Thief and sometimes seems to view him as separate.
Basically, the canon answer to "are the Ring-Spirit and Thief King Bakura the same character?" is KINDA SORTA. It's like if someone wanted to play Sapphire from Steven Universe in a game that also included Garnet - a full person who can be part of a whole that is also their own full person.
With that in mind, is the Bakura from ancient Egypt appable as his own character? Mordrid, the Ring-Spirit's player, is fine with it.
