Applications are currently CLOSED
They will be open from NOVEMBER 21ST 12:01 AM ET to NOVEMBER 27TH 11:59 PM ET.
▶ You do not need a reserve
to place an application. However, if you reserve, you may submit an application without fear of being challenged. Reserves expire SEPTEMBER 24TH, 12:01AM ET
▶ DO NOT EDIT APPLICATIONS
AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN POSTED. Any edits
to the application, including changing your traits or opt-outs, will be cause for rejection
! IF YOU NEED TO EDIT EITHER YOUR APPLICATION OR YOUR COMMENT, LET US KNOW FIRST SO WE DO NOT DISQUALIFY YOU!
▶ Because monster choices aren't decided at the same time as app verdicts, we ask that you please not lock or delete your app until monsters have been announced.
▶ If you really don't feel comfortable keeping a public application after submitting it (and subsequently being accepted), please make sure that your opt-outs, trait list, and fitting/conflicting preference are still available on the main post linking to your app.
▶ Please read the Rules
▶ You will either be accepted
, or asked for revisions
. Rejections and revision requests will be given as much detail as possible. If you are rejected, you may not apply for another character until the next application round.
▶ Please post any revisions in a separate comment
, and do not edit your application! We cannot accept revisions
that are edited into your existing app.
▶ You may apply for one
character per app round and up to four
characters total. All characters must be from different canons, or at least far enough apart that two characters from the same canon would not interact with each other (Final Fantasy IV vs VII, Persona 2 vs Persona 4, etc). When in doubt, ask the mods in the FAQ.
▶ If you are reapping your character, be sure to read this part of the FAQ.
▶ APRIL MONSTER UPDATE:
In April 2017, five new monsters were added to the bestiary, and a free re-sort was given to all characters currently in the game. This re-sort extends to reapped characters.
If you previously played in Ryslig and would like to bring back your character, you may have that character's monster reconsidered. To do so, please put "RE-SORT" above your traits list. You may change your opt-outs (now six in total) and your sorting type (fits/conflicts/either/random), but do not change your trait list
. This re-sort is only available upon application; reapped characters who don't take the re-sort forfeit the opportunity and must make any monster changes via Mana Rewards.
Use only if in Ryslig and used to change the canon point of your character.
The handle you want to go by.
Plurk, AIM, journal PM, e-mail, etc.
If you have other characters already, tell us who they are. Regardless of opt-outs, we will avoid giving one player the same monster type for more than one character unless you specifically tell us you're okay with getting a repeat here!
Your character's name, in western order (First Name, Last Name) please.
Your character's age. If no canon age is given, give a general estimate.
Canon: Canon characters only
. Your character's canon.
Canon Point: Canon characters only
. A brief description of the canon point you're taking your character from. Something like 'after the battle at Disneyland' or 'post-Book 2' will do.
World Information: Original characters only
. Give us a rundown of the character's world. This should be detailed enough to give us a solid understanding of the world the character comes from, and how daily life in that environment shapes them if their world is fundamentally different from our own.
Character Information: For canon characters
: If you can link to a Wiki page on your character, please do so here. If your character doesn't have a wiki page available, or the wiki entry contains less than a paragraph of information on them, please write a few paragraphs about their canon and history. Touch on any major important points that have influenced or affected your character.
For original characters
: Your character's history should be detailed here; it should provide a clear picture of their life and reinforce their personality section with the character’s previous actions and decisions. Do not leave out major life events, particularly events that impacted the character’s thoughts, views of the world, etc.
Describe your character's personality in detail. Really get into what makes them tick: their motivations, their worldview, their relationships with others, and so on. Use examples from canon (or from the world/character information section in the case of original characters) to support your points whenever you can. This is by far the most important section in your app, so aim for AT LEAST three paragraphs here.
5-10 Key Character Traits:
List 5-10 important character traits as described
in your personality section. These traits should be single (or two max) concise words
that reflect the main parts of your character’s personality, rather than smaller quirks. Include a balanced mix of positive and negative traits. There is limited space here, so you won't be asked to revise for not including every single trait from the personality section, but you WILL be asked to revise if many of the traits listed here seem in conflict with or unsupported by your personality section.
Would you prefer a monster that FITS your character’s personality, CONFLICTS with it, EITHER or 100% RANDOMIZATION?
If you choose fitting, you'll get a monster type that generally goes well with your character's personality traits (ex: if “joyous” fit nymph, they’d be a nymph). If you choose conflicting, you'll get a monster type that will be challenging for your character to adapt to and might cause a struggle between your character's personality and their new instincts (ex: a very quiet, passive character becoming a werewolf). If you'd like a surprise but based on the traits of your character, put either. If you want to live dangerously and let the mods stick all of the monsters (minus your opt-outs) on the randomization wheel and spin it without regards to personality traits or canon, pick 100% randomization.
Opt out of up to six monster types here. If you don't want to opt out of any, just put 'none'. No explanation for your opt-outs is needed and you will not be asked for revisions because of this section unless you opt out of more than six. Make sure to add the ones of your other characters if you don't want those to show up again as well (they do not count towards your six). Please keep in mind your opt-outs should be for monsters you absolutely cannot play under any circumstances first and foremost.
A third person (prose or action-brackets) sample that should contain at least ten sentences and feature at least three lines of dialogue so that we can understand your character's voice. Threads from the test drive meme or other games may be used as long as they are less than a year old. Threads from meme communities like dear-mun, dear-player, bakerstreet and museboxes (both open and personal) may not be used.
