As for the gods appearing in dreams, they may try to tempt the character to join their side, but they won't threaten them. If you'd like your character to join a god (and you think they're unlikely to do it on their own), we recommend finding an excuse for them to visit a god's domain -- the longer they stay in one, the more their loyalty will grow.
