Sorry about not getting back to you sooner mods, almost forgot I had this to do...

So the map is drawn (not in his head), making the paper magic so to speak. Only by casting the scanning spell on the paper periodically can Blue detect danger, which is being defined as traps and hostile non-sapient entities. Danger on the map would be registered as stationary at the time of casting. Therefore.. since the scope of the scanning would be limited to a large room-sized area immediately around Blue's position, it already be the moment for either fight or flight by the time a hostile beast crossed into the power's radar of detection.

The scope of the entire map itself would be within the limits of the existing minotaur navigation sense, like a city-sized area (or something, that's within your discretion mods) before the mental image is too blurry to draw. So hypothetically speaking, dungeon crawling would still be quite a lengthy and exciting adventure.

Also, Blue would only be able to have a single active "dungeon" map at a time. To make a map of a new building/outdoor area, he would have to destroy the old one. This also means he would have to remember to keep a lot of paper and writing implements handy.

So yes, Blue would still have to inform his adventure party of what he discovers with this spell, such as scribbling onto the map the location of a spiked pit trap for example.
