MANA REWARDS (DEFUNCT)

THIS PAGE IS NO LONGER IN USE! PLEASE USE THE NEW MANA REWARDS PAGE FOR ANY PURCHASES
Once you've started earning bonus coins, your characters will find a small canvas satchel either in their pocket or under their pillow. The satchel will contain the number of bonus coins earned. Each coin is copper and looks very much like a penny except it has the character's monster stamped on it. The satchel also contains a small scroll featuring a single word: AGIMAT. Reading this word will summon Mana, who will gladly accept these coins as payment for magical favors, whether that be summoning an item from your character's home or bestowing unto them an amazing new power.
Receiving a reward isn't always easy, however. To focus her magic, Mana will send characters on a quest, usually to gather materials or perform a ritual. To receive a mod-custom quest, you must purchase a reward at 80 coins or higher. This is limited to one per player per month. Lower purchases may receive pre-written quests unless you opt out of them, and you are also free to write your own.
Mana can only be summoned by each character once a month. A new toplevel for each month will be posted where you can leave your requests, and the threads will be frozen at the end of the month, once all requests have been processed. Below are categories of rewards for characters to choose from, with a general idea of how much each thing might cost. If you're unsure which tier your reward belongs on, ask below in the relevant thread.
DISCOUNTS
Having recently become a bit more business-savvy, Mana is now offering regular discounts to monsters on various items! Every other month, different request categories will have a 20% discount. Wow! When putting in a request, make sure to note the discount in your comment. The schedule is as follows:ITEMS
This section excludes weapons; additionally, advanced tech (think super futuristic/sci-fi, not necessarily cell phones) falls into the same category as magical items. Magical items may be imbued with up to four magical spells.
10 - An item from home that can easily fit in someone's hand. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 50 coins.
20 - An item from home up to a meter tall/wide. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 40 coins.
40 - An item from home up to three meters tall/wide. An item from home up to three meters tall/wide. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 20 coins.
60 - A magical item from home with a single spell/effect it already has in canon.
60 - A magical item from Ryslig. Mods will design the item, but you should give us an idea of what it should do/be used for.
20 - A second spell or effect for your item.
40 - A third spell or effect for your item.
80 - A fourth spell or effect for your item.WEAPONS
As with items, weapons may be imbued with up to four magical spells. Ammo availability will be determined on an individual basis.
20 - A mundane weapon from home. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 40 coins.
60 - A magical/high-tech weapon from home with a single spell/effect it already has in canon.
60 - A magical weapon from Ryslig. Mods will design the weapon, but you should give us an idea of what it should do/be used for.
20 - A second spell or effect for your weapon.
40 - A third spell or effect for your weapon.
80 - A fourth spell or effect for your weapon.PETS/CREATURES
Any creature or monster summoned from Mana will come with their summon item (e.g., a Pokémon would come with a Pokéball, a demon would have their summoning catalyst, etc.). Characters may have as many non-magical pets as they can buy, but only one (1) magical one. Magical pets are limited to a single ability slot, and these abilities do not work on monsters. The prices listed below are in mundane-magical format; the first number is the price for a base pet, the second is the price for a magical pet.
20-60 - A pet from home that is the size of a small dog.
30-60 - A pet from home that is the size of a large dog.
50-70 - A pet from home that is the size of a human.
60-80 - A pet from home that is the size of a horse.
100-120 - A pet from home that is the size of a hippo. This is the largest size allowed; pets bigger than this in canon will be shrunk upon arrival in Ryslig.MONSTER CHANGES -- TEMPORARY
20 - Change to a different monster form for one month. Temporary monster form is chosen by the player.
20 - The ability to switch between human and monster for a month. The spell allows the character to voluntarily switch every two days, and does not stop cravings. The human form does not retain any monster abilities, aside from the ability to switch forms.
20 - Turn human for a month. This eliminates cravings. You may revert at any time, but this will void the remaining duration.
60 - Change to a different monster form for four months. Temporary monster form is chosen by the player.MONSTER CHANGES -- PERMANENT
20 - A minor modification to a character's appearance (e.g., gain a few inches, change eye color, sharper teeth, web toes, etc)
40 - Change to a different feeding source (e.g., meat, blood, souls). You will be gifted with the necessary modification for that source (claws and teeth for meat, a spell to drain souls, etc).
80 - A functional body modification (e.g., flight-capable wings, second pair of limbs, etc.)
80 - Weakness exchange (e.g., exchanging sunlight weakness for cold weakness). The player must provide the weakness being exchanged, but either the player or mods may submit a weakness to replace it.
100 - Change your monster type (mods randomize from 7 player-provided options)
120 - Change your monster type (mods randomize from 3 player-provided options)
120 - Ability to switch between monster and human form once per day. This does not stop cravings, and no monster powers carry over to the human form.
150 - Change your monster type (player's choice).POWERS/ABILITIES
60 - A minor spell or ability, possibly with a time limit (e.g., walk on water for 20 minutes, double strength bonus usable once a day).
80 - Upgrade an existing monster ability.
80 - A summon, or a power tied to a summon (e.g., Stands, Personas). See the FAQ for details.
80 - An intermediate spell or ability. This largely covers powers that don't have a lot of restrictions, but don't affect monsters besides the possessor of the ability.
120 - A major spell or ability.
60 - An additional Travel or Stealth form, no time limit, but restricted to the bestiary's allowed species. (e.g., a rat Pooka with an extra rabbit form)
60 - An additional Travel or Stealth form outside the allowed species, restricted to one consecutive hour a day.
80 - An additional Travel or Stealth form outside the allowed species, no time limit.BUILDINGS
20 - A structure from home no bigger than a two-bedroom apartment.
30 - A structure from home no bigger than a five-bedroom house.
40 - A structure from home no bigger than a mansion.
50 - A significant landmark built for your character (e.g. a castle, housing complex, massive bronze statue). This will be added to Player Locations.
60 - A small town (≤80 small houses).
80 - A magical location or structure no bigger than a five-bedroom house, or the enchantment of a preexisting Ryslig location.
120 - A large city (≤400 houses) that comes with a statue of the character.
20 - A second spell or effect for your magical location.
40 - A third spell or effect for your magical location.
80 - A fourth spell or effect for your magical location.SUBMIT YOUR CLAIM
When describing your reward, please be as detailed as possible. Many lower-tier rewards are self-explanatory, but high-tier rewards such as powers, magical items/weapons, and monster modifications especially should be outlined clearly. The mods will be happy to work with you to ascertain a fun and balanced power set.If your character wouldn't outright ask for the reward you want them to have, have them ask for something else and then fill out the backfire field with what you actually want them to have. (Mana is not as good at summoning as Tikbalang, and characters who don't follow her quests to the letter risk the ritual going wrong.) Your backfire should be something that could conceivably result from the actual request.
Please be advised that mods reserve the right to modify or veto a reward that is too incongruous with the setting.

Mana will ask Lust for two of her bronze scales and two of her black ones. She will drop each colour into a separate bowl filled with what appears to be water, but will quickly dissolve the scales and condense into some sort of sludge.
Mana will hand Lust these bowls, as well as a skein of golden yarn. Lust must weave two equally-sized nets out of this yarn - Mana will recommend she doesn't make them too large. She must then hang them up and pour the sludge from the bowls over one net each, then leave them like this through a full day of fog.
The next day Lust will find that the sludge will have solidified into lumps of soft pink crystal - the smaller the nets she made, the smaller the crystal. Lust must take these two crystals and find two different monsters of the following types: troll, shade, slime. She will have to convince both these monsters to swallow a crystal each. The monsters will cough them up again a few minutes later, now glowing bright red.
Lust most now take these crystals and smash them - notably, this time she must wait until there is no fog in the air. They will release a deep red mist that she must breathe in.
For the next two hours, Lust will have hallucinations of your choice - when the effects of the mist fade, she will find she has grown her two new arms. Oddly, her original arms will have a golden thread tied around each finger; she will have no memory of her, or anyone else, doing this.

Request: Laura Palmer was really worried about her diary back at home. Something about secrets. Anyway, could he just get it for her? Does Mana deliver? He's not sure she'd want it to go through his hands. (Just something Scott would ICly ask, not really necessary)
Backfire? No, thank you.
Quest? No, thank you

It would be fine for the diary to be delivered straight to Laura. This is entirely up to the player of the character the diary belongs to!

Request: He wants his necromancy back, though he guesses there will be limitations. Sure enough, he can only get his reanimation ability back (as approved here, I'm going to go with 3 reanimates at a time max at a regular human durability). Fuck it, he'll take it, anything to feel normal again.
Backfire? Nah. Not getting his full repertoire of magic is enough of a backfire to make him grumble a little.
Quest? You know what, yeah, let's do it.

Mana will tell Soeki to bring her the bones of three different skeletons, all killed within the past week. They need not be human or monster skeletons - animals will do. The trick is, however, that he'll have to have eaten at least a little bit of flesh from the living being that once contained the skeleton; furthermore, he'll have to save another two pieces of flesh from each - so six total - and two scraps of skin or fur. He will have to dry the skin or fur.
Soeki must then find two monsters that give him an impression of "death" and convince them to consume three of those pieces of flesh each. They need not be undead monsters as long as Soeki associates them somehow with death. Following this, he must touch one of those scraps of skin/fur to each of them, at which those monsters will feel a sharp jab of cold. Soeki will need to carry these scraps around for two full nights, during which the monsters he convinced to work with him will feel a slight but constant chill.
After two nights, Soeki must burn the scraps. The chilling effects on the other monsters will recede and they will suffer no ill effects.
Soeki, meanwhile, must bring these ashes back to Mana - as well as those three skeletons, which must now be cleaned entirely of flesh. Mana will set him to grinding several bones from each to powder, and secrete away the rest.
Once he has the powder, Mana will mix the ashes into them in a bowl, mix in a dark liquid, then whisper something to the combination. (If Soeki is close enough to hear, he won't be able to remember the syllables after, but he will remember them hurting.) She will then pour the mixture over Soeki's head and clap her hands - he will abruptly feel the same pang of cold the others monsters did previously. It will feel as if it is sinking into his own bones, then vanish.
Mana will tell him his powers should come to him slowly over the next day, and ask him to come back if he feels nothing after that period. In actuality, Soeki will begin feeling them within a few hours.

Request: A form of the Astral Projection ability that would ultimately work in Ryslig. I'd like to get a major power's worth out of this while still managing to not powergame, so I am extremely open to mod adjustment, but here are my thoughts on how to handle (and reasonably nerf) it within the setting:
The Power: The ability to separate the soul from the body, manifesting noncorporeally on a different plane of existence while leaving the physical body in a meditative or comatose state. The practitioner could choose to only project their mind and senses (thus being invisible but unable to communicate), or appear to others as a ghostly presence or very nearly solid depending on experience and control (which could be developed over time.) Because there is in fact no physical body at hand, the practitioner's incorporeal form would be invulnerable to physical damage. In other canons and depictions, different planes of existence accessible to the astral projector can include elsewhere on the physical plane, heaven, hell, other dimensions, and dreams.
Potential issues (and ideas for handling them):
- Ryslig, to this character's knowledge, does not have heaven, hell, or other dimensions. Therefore, this ability would be limited to manifesting on the physical plane anywhere in Ryslig regardless of distance (could be on a high mountain or even underwater as long as players can theoretically access it), dreams (with player permission and discretion), and, possibly, being able to communicate in a more connected/attuned way with the gods. L's trying to advance in the Fog church and this would be useful to him, but of course it's at your guys' discretion.
- When practicing astral projection, the character is in a comatose and very vulnerable state. He's susceptible to possession.
- If dreamwalking, the character could sustain damage and harm within the dream of another monster, and if that monster were to wake up during this time, he would be effectively trapped until that character went back to sleep. If something prevented that from happening within a reasonable timeframe (say, a change to Nephilim or a massive coffee bender), his body's eventual death could reunite his body and soul when he resurrected in Dyster.
-When practicing astral projection, the character couldn't physically affect their surroundings. However, if they possess any psychic or nonphysical abilities, those would be viable. For example, in L's case, he wouldn't be able to take a soul, teleport or create fire, since these rely on a physical form, but he could use his telekinesis and manipulate fire that already exists in this state, or possess someone by slipping into their body like a suit (rather than controlling them like a puppet, as he does in his physical form. Humans are easy, monsters are at player discretion as always.)
-While a character astral projecting would be invulnerable to physical harm (with a caveat for any character who is also on an astral plane and could punch him, kiss him etc), psychic damage could hurt them very badly. In fact, there's a constant psychic/psychological strain that comes with using the ability at all, making this kind of damage potentially even more devastating. This extends to any monster power that affects the mind, such as a mer's song. Furthermore, it's possible to dangerously exhaust oneself by using this ability, or even die if willpower exceeds common sense and it's pushed beyond its limit.
- The character, astrally projected, couldn't choose his appearance. He always looks like a monster, since as a human he can't use any of his powers.
- The character can only astrally project himself. He cannot do this with or to other characters.
-Once a character has astrally projected to a location, he's limited by where he can go from there (aside from back to his body) by a walking pace. Meaning that he must have a destination in mind when he settles down to project; he can go to a dream or a location, but he can't immediately project elsewhere unless he's returned to his body first and repeated the process. As it's very psychically draining, I don't see him being able to do this more than two or three times a day even after honing the skill a great deal over many months. Initially, he could do it once every few days, and be absolutely exhausted by the effort.
- If the shadow manipulation god boon gets approved, L could still control the shadows of humans, animals and (at player discretion) other monsters. However, his own shadow couldn't be controlled, because as an astrally projected noncorporeal being, he doesn't cast a shadow.
Backfire? The nerfing is probably enough!
Quest? Sure, but only if you guys have one ready. I'm cool not taking one. :)

The vast majority of this is fine, and we really like the idea! However, we feel that being able to use powers while in this state would be too much even with your proposed weaknesses.
The exception to this is possession with player permission as this relates to the ability itself. In this case it would work much the same as it would for him normally except for the fact he would be within the body.
As proposed, physical powers would not be capable of harming him in his astral form, but non-physical ones may still impact him. As with most powers, it would be up to you to grant player permission for something like a mer's song affecting him!
He may appear in physical locations, and dreams so long as there is player permission. Within dreams L may be able to use powers including those that are not his own - it is a dream, after all! - but he will be susceptible to damage.
As far as being able to communicate with the gods, L will find he can access an unfamiliar plane of fog in which he will be able to talk with the Fog God. If he were to try and reach the Fourth God this way, he would see a flash of something that appears to be a blue screen, then be knocked back to his body. The Fourth God doesn't wish to talk personally with Fog followers!

Mana will tell L he must obtain five drops of venom each from three different monsters - they may be of the same type, but must be different people. When he returns with this venom, she will great him with an array of plants, some unrecognizable. She will collect the venom and start fussing over the plants, crushing certain kinds into the venom; absently, she will tell L to pick two plants, whichever most "call" to him. She will not elaborate on this point no matter how much L pushes her, just saying that he should be able to tell by looking at them.
Once L has done this, she will add those to two of the venoms. She will give each of the venoms back to L in separate containers, as well as a blindfold which smells strongly of juniper. L must go to a location that is "not normally accessible to him" - again, Mana will not elaborate, telling him it's up to him how he interprets it, as long as he truly feels this way. He must there tie the blindfold over his eyes, dab a drop of venom on the spot over each eye - from the two venoms that have the plants he chose added to them - and consume the remaining venom.
L will feel no change for approximately a minute; he will then sink into an out-of-body experience. Most of the particulars of this are up to you! However, there will be recurring images of teeth, stars, and Tacca chantrieri; additionally, regardless of his normal mental state, L will spend the entire time paranoid and convinced that someone has stolen his body.

Reward Cost: 50 Coins
Activity: 13 COINS FOR JUNE
10 COINS FOR JULY
8 COINS FOR AUGUST
9 COINS FOR SEPTEMBER
10 COINS FOR OCTOBER (with 10 leftover)
Request: Elsa would like the tents and vehicles for a traveling show, much like the one she owned in American Horror Story: Freak Show. There would be several tents (mess, medical, big top for performances complete with a stage and plenty of folding chairs), as well as a few residential tents; her own would be an especially large and lavish replica of what she possessed back home. There would also be some pack vehicles and trailers for performers; when the whole thing is set up, it's about the size of a small town, but it is moveable from place to place in Ryslig (provided Elsa can get the manpower to drive all the vehicles.) All of this would come furnished with amenities to sustain a traveling show.
Backfire? Instead of warm colors like orange, yellow and red being the primary palette of the show, Ryslig's freak show has cool colors, like purple, green and blue!

Reward Cost: 60 coins for a small town (split 30/30 between the two boys)
Activity:
Nagisa:
20 COINS FOR MARCH
10 COINS FOR APRIL (with 10 left over)
Jataro:
20 COINS FOR FEBRUARY
10 COINS FOR MAY (with 3 left over)
Request: Nagisa and Jataro want to finally realize their dream of creating a children's paradise, only this time with less murder and more magic. However, rather than a normal town on the ground, they want one that's up in the trees to allow them to ~live with nature~. Rather than houses, there will be 40 "rooms" and a few communal "buildings" (cafeteria, kitchen, 2 or 3 rec/multipurpose rooms), as well as walkways to allow travel between individual rooms and communal buildings. BASICALLY. It's like a summer camp. Only year round. And literally in the trees. They're going to set it up deep in this forest, near a small water source of some kind (that they'll definitely have to have purified by a nephilim since they're going to use it for bathing/washing clothes/drinking). As discussed here, the town will be powered by a water-powered generator, which will provide electricity for lighting and kitchen appliances. (Though we'll probably have one of them claim spooky lighting as a fog boon later because por que no los dos.)
Backfire? nah
Quest? n/a, so we'll come up with something
