MANTICORE

◉ NAVIGATION

MANTICORE
BASIC INFO

Manticores are cat-like creatures with wings and a scorpion's tail. They tend to be deceitful in nature, and are swift and vicious hunters.

MANDATORY CHANGES

● Cat-like ears which can resemble those of any type of feline.

● Sharp fangs instead of teeth.

● Clawed hands and feet with pads on the bottom.

● Large wings capable of flight, which can be bird-like, bat-like or a combination of both.

● A scorpion-like tail with venomous barbs at the end. The tail itself can be singular, forked, or three-pronged.

● Venom, as mentioned above. Manticore venom must be situated in the stinger of their tail, and may be either paralytic, hallucinogenic or necrotic in nature, based on the player's preference.

● Increased speed and jumping ability. Manticores are very fast and can leap far to pounce on their prey.

● Sharpened senses. Manticores have sharper senses of eyesight, hearing, and smell than humans.

● Weakness to cold. Manticores can tolerate the summer heat, or even a desert's extreme temperatures (though the sand might scald bare feet), but they will be weakened by freezing weather. They become easier to kill as the temperature drops.

● The need to feed on human flesh. This need may be satiated by accepting it from others, but more often than not, the Manticore will be compelled to choose their own targets for a fresh kill.

● A strong hunting instinct. When Manticores are hungry, they will develop the urge to chase prey down. Manticores usually hunt by hiding as they stalk their prey, then pouncing when the victim least expects it.
OPTIONAL CHANGES

● Any psychological changes are welcome! Feel free to pull from real world myths, canon creatures of this variety, or any other source!

● A fog form. This is an exaggerated version of their monster form that appears only during the fog and is a chance to make your monster more "horrifying" during the fog.

● Travel form: the ability to take the form of a feline at any time. In this form the character will be able to travel faster, however, they will also be more vulnerable.

● Bright eyes that reflect light at night. These may be any typical cat eye color.

● Any number of cat-like facial features, ranging from mild to fully feline.

● A lion-like mane.

● The ability to withstand toxins at twice the rate of normal humans or monsters that don't have this immunity.

● Longer arms for the ability to run fast on all fours.

● Fur on the upper arms, shoulders, and back that can be patterned after any type of feline.

● Fur on any other part of the body.

● A melodic voice that can temporarily hypnotize humans and lure them closer.

● A deceptive nature. Manticores are keen on trickery and delight in spreading rumors, telling riddles, and learning the secrets of others.

can manticores have markings or patterns on their body made out of the same chitin on their tail?

also, I believe this is a repeat question from the old days but I can’t find it: are manticore tails allowed to be centipede/millipede tails, complete with aesthetic 'legs'
