VAMPIRE
|
Vampires are undead creatures that feast on blood. A few days before the character transforms, they will become aware of two itchy, painful bite marks on their neck and a loss of appetite. While the physical changes are minor, the transformation itself also involves the heart stopping and the body dying. Any type of bat is allowed for Vampires. (frozen comment) FAQ
FEEDING:
Can Vampires only satisfy their hunger with straight-up blood, or would consuming flesh satiate them, too?
So long as the flesh is bloody, this would help satiate them. It wouldn't have as much effect as drinking blood directly, though.
MONSTER ABILITIES:
Regarding Vampires and their ability to change into fog/mist! Would it be possible for them to turn only certain parts of their body into fog at a time?
Yes, with a lot of concentration, they could do that. It can't be used to extend that limb out further than their normal limb would go.
When Vampires turn to their fog/mist form, what happens to objects they were carrying? Or their clothes?
That's up to you. You have the option of having them disappear and reappear along with the character, vanishing completely, or never vanishing with them at all.
Can Vampires use echolocation in their bat form?
Yes, but only in their bat form, or their Fog form if that one is particularly bat-like.
Are the optional wing arms capable of proper flight, or is it limited to gliding just like the membrane?
The wings are only capable of gliding, similar to a flying squirrel.
Since this is a classic kind of trope, can Vampires walk up/stand on walls and/or ceilings?
Unfortunately, no. That would be an extra ability.
MONSTER BODIES AND CHANGES:
I'm basing my Vampire on a bat which has a tail. Can they have that tail even outside their bat form?
As long as the tail is only cosmetic and a limb from a bat, it is acceptable.
Can I base my design around bat-like animals, such as flying squirrels, sugar gliders, etc.?
Unfortunately, these are rodents and fall under the Pooka category.
About the red eyes, is that referring to the whites of the eye or the irises?
It can be either one, it can be both! It's player's choice.
Would it be reasonable for a Vampire to not just have fangs, but the elongated tongue and general mouth setup of a vampire bat to make feeding via slicing with incisors and lapping up the blood plausible?
Sure!
Can I have some more information about the 'legs that bend backwards' in Optional changes?
You can interpret that in several ways! They could be legs that are elongated between the ankle and toes and thus bend 'backwards' like that, or they could be legs that can bend at the knee in both directions. Or even legs that actually bend backwards at the knee joint, and can't bend forwards anymore.
Can Vampires still hang upside down and such if they have bat feet but not the backwards-bending legs?
They sure can! The bat feet will, of course, need something to hold onto. Time to install a nice metal bar near the ceiling!
Do Vampires still breathe?
Vampires do not have to breathe, but they may do it out of habit.
Do Vampires have a reflection? How about shadows?
That's up to you! A Vampire can take some physical changes from other Vampire myths around the world and incorporate them into the monster as long as they are cosmetic changes and don't grant any extra abilities. Examples: having them lack a reflection, lack shadows, having their appearance deteriorate when deprived of blood, blood seeping from the mouth/nose after they've recently eaten, etc.
And what about being unable to enter a home without invitation?
That counts as an additional weakness, and we're never against that sort of thing.
Can my Vampire sparkle in the moonlight?
Of course!
Do Vampires need to sleep?
Yes, they do. Whether they need to sleep in a coffin or upside-down, or just sleep normally in a bed, is up to you.
