DEMON

BASIC INFO Demons are unholy creatures that feed on human souls. Known for their ruthlessness and dark magic abilities, Demons are some of the most feared creatures in all of Ryslig. MANDATORY CHANGES ● Sharp fangs in place of their regular teeth. ● Red eyes that glow when the Demon is using magic. ● Pointed ears. ● Dark claws instead of fingernails and toenails. ● Either one, two or four long, sharp horns on the head in a variety of shapes and sizes. ● Large bat-like wings capable of flight. ● A long, whip-like tail. ● The ability to use dark magic. Demons have four primary spells: - the ability to bind a human to the spot so they can't move - the ability to create and control fire - the ability to possess another being for up to an hour - the ability to steal a human's soul. Possession can only be used once per day, the rest can be used in unlimited amounts. ● Immunity to fire. ● A weakness to salt and holy magic. Demons can't be killed by salt, but touching or consuming it does weaken them and they are unable to cross salt barriers on foot. Holy magic can kill a Demon, although there are few on Ryslig who know it. ● The need to feed on human souls. The Demon accomplishes this with a dark magic spell. Although the human's body remains alive after the spell is complete, they will essentially be in a coma. [back to top] OPTIONAL CHANGES ● Any psychological changes are welcome! Feel free to pull from real world myths, canon creatures of this variety, or any other source! ● A fog form. This is an exaggerated version of their monster form that appears only during the fog and is a chance to make your monster more "horrifying" during the fog. ● Stealth form: the ability to take the form of a doll-version of themselves. This can be any kind of doll but cannot be larger than the average cat. Unlike Shades who may possess any object, the Demon must resemble themselves in this form. When they change back from their Stealth form, the doll ceases to exist. The Demon has access to teleportation power in this form, and will not be easily identified as a monster in disguise. This does not change the fact that they will also be more vulnerable. ● Scales anywhere on the body. ● A forked tongue. ● Hooves instead of feet. ● A triangular spade or sharp barbs on the end of the tail. ● Dark black or purple lips and sclera. ● Spikes anywhere on the body. ● Goosebumps. Some Demons have the ability to stir cold chills within anyone who hears their voice, or is touched by them. ● The ability to teleport short distances by making a circle of fire on the ground. It is possible for a demon to teleport anything or anyone they can carry. However, it would be much more taxing than teleporting unencumbered. ● The ability to create a Hand of Glory. The Demon either spawns a severed hand or enchants an existing one, which will be capable of moving around and communicating through crude gestures, thus allowing them to serve as the Demon's spy. The hand will disappear either after one hour, or if it's touched by sunlight. A Demon can only spawn a Hand of Glory once a day. ● Nocuous curse ability. Demons can harm themselves in some capacity, then touch their target to 'copy' the harm onto the victim. This can only be done with physical injuries, and does not include lethal harm. This ability can only be used once a day and may not work on monsters. ● Demons may have two additional spells: - a spell that grants the illusion of a temporary power boost (removing someone's fear and spiking their adrenaline) - a spell that causes the target's emotions to go out of control, mostly towards darker thoughts. If these abilities are used on other monsters, they are effective for up to one hour, and can only be used once per day. ● A more wicked nature. More than any other creature, Demons tend to be tempted to act on their darkest desires and forsake their human nature.
