LEPUS

BASIC INFO With their hoppy legs and twitchy noses, lepus are some of the most dangerous and deadly monsters on the Ryslig peninsula. Looks can be deceiving and it's easy to discount them as harmless on first glance, but these fluffy creatures are mean-spirited, vengeful, and bent on destruction. MANDATORY CHANGES ● Long, rabbit-like ears. ● Sharp claws in place of fingernails and toenails. ● Fur on most or all of their body. ● Nasty big pointy teeth. ● Twitchy little nose. ● Increased jumping skill. Lepus can jump to amazing heights with a minimum of effort. This ability greatly exceeds the jumping ability of any other Ryslig monster. ● Burrowing instinct. Lepus prefer to live in caves or holes they dig themselves. ● Weakness to holy magic/items. ● Hunger and hunting instinct. Lepus usually hunt by lying in wait near their burrows, then launching themselves teeth-first at hapless passers-by. Hunting animals will satiate them for a short time, but the longer they go without hunting a human, the more they'll be compelled to do so until they start losing their self-control. [back to top] OPTIONAL CHANGES ● Any psychological changes are welcome! Feel free to pull from real world myths, canon creatures of this variety, or any other source! ● A fog form. This is an exaggerated version of their monster form that appears only during the fog and is a chance to make your monster more "horrifying" during the fog. ● Fluffy little tail. ● Teeth that are constantly growing that require gnawing on hard substances to keep worn down to a manageable length. ● Feet twice the size of normal human feet. ● Improved eyesight, but what do they need it for? ● The ability to shift from lepus form to full rabbit form. In this form, the character will look like a normal rabbit and will be able to travel faster. However, they will also be more vulnerable. ● An unpleasant personality. Lepus have a tendency to be foul, cruel and bad-tempered. ● A compulsion to eat vegetables constantly. It won't appease their hunger, but they feel calmer and more relaxed with a carrot to chomp away on. ● A propensity for disguise. While they can't shapeshift, lepus are natural actors that love to take on new personae to toy with their human prey, especially hunters. ● A spell that allows them to summon brightly colored hardboiled eggs. Lepus enjoy hiding these eggs to lure humans towards their lair. [back to top] ADDITIONAL INFO & TRAITS ✔ Ears are allowed to be floppy, as long as they're representative of the animal the lepus is based on. ✔ The egg summoning spell can be used to summon plastic eggs with cheap plastic prizes inside or chocolate candy eggs. ✔ Lepus may have horns/antlers if the player wishes to use a jackalope as a base.
