MANA REWARDS (DEFUNCT)

Once you've started earning bonus coins, your characters will find a small canvas satchel either in their pocket or under their pillow. The satchel will contain the number of bonus coins earned. Each coin is copper and looks very much like a penny except it has the character's monster stamped on it. The satchel also contains a small scroll featuring a single word: AGIMAT. Reading this word will summon Mana, who will gladly accept these coins as payment for magical favors, whether that be summoning an item from your character's home or bestowing unto them an amazing new power.
Receiving a reward isn't always easy, however. To focus her magic, Mana will send characters on a quest, usually to gather materials or perform a ritual. To receive a mod-custom quest, you must purchase a reward at 80 coins or higher. This is limited to one per player per month. Lower purchases may receive pre-written quests unless you opt out of them, and you are also free to write your own.
Mana can only be summoned by each character once a month. A new toplevel for each month will be posted where you can leave your requests, and the threads will be frozen at the end of the month, once all requests have been processed. Below are categories of rewards for characters to choose from, with a general idea of how much each thing might cost. If you're unsure which tier your reward belongs on, ask below in the relevant thread.
DISCOUNTS
Having recently become a bit more business-savvy, Mana is now offering regular discounts to monsters on various items! Every other month, different request categories will have a 20% discount. Wow! When putting in a request, make sure to note the discount in your comment. The schedule is as follows:ITEMS
This section excludes weapons; additionally, advanced tech (think super futuristic/sci-fi, not necessarily cell phones) falls into the same category as magical items. Magical items may be imbued with up to four magical spells.
10 - An item from home that can easily fit in someone's hand. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 50 coins.
20 - An item from home up to a meter tall/wide. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 40 coins.
40 - An item from home up to three meters tall/wide. An item from home up to three meters tall/wide. You may make it magical and imbue it with a spell for an additional 20 coins.
60 - A magical item from home with a single spell/effect it already has in canon.
60 - A magical item from Ryslig. Mods will design the item, but you should give us an idea of what it should do/be used for.
20 - A second spell or effect for your item.
40 - A third spell or effect for your item.
80 - A fourth spell or effect for your item.WEAPONS

Any creature or monster summoned from Mana will come with their summon item (e.g., a Pokémon would come with a Pokéball, a demon would have their summoning catalyst, etc.). Characters may have as many non-magical pets as they can buy, but only one (1) magical one. Magical pets are limited to a single ability slot, and these abilities do not work on monsters. The prices listed below are in mundane-magical format; the first number is the price for a base pet, the second is the price for a magical pet.
20-60 - A pet from home that is the size of a small dog.
30-60 - A pet from home that is the size of a large dog.
50-70 - A pet from home that is the size of a human.
60-80 - A pet from home that is the size of a horse.
100-120 - A pet from home that is the size of a hippo. This is the largest size allowed; pets bigger than this in canon will be shrunk upon arrival in Ryslig.MONSTER CHANGES -- TEMPORARY
20 - Change to a different monster form for one month. Temporary monster form is chosen by the player.
20 - The ability to switch between human and monster for a month. The spell allows the character to voluntarily switch every two days, and does not stop cravings. The human form does not retain any monster abilities, aside from the ability to switch forms.
20 - Turn human for a month. This eliminates cravings. You may revert at any time, but this will void the remaining duration.
60 - Change to a different monster form for four months. Temporary monster form is chosen by the player.MONSTER CHANGES -- PERMANENT
20 - A minor modification to a character's appearance (e.g., gain a few inches, change eye color, sharper teeth, web toes, etc)
40 - Change to a different feeding source (e.g., meat, blood, souls). You will be gifted with the necessary modification for that source (claws and teeth for meat, a spell to drain souls, etc).
80 - A functional body modification (e.g., flight-capable wings, second pair of limbs, etc.)
80 - Weakness exchange (e.g., exchanging sunlight weakness for cold weakness). The player must provide the weakness being exchanged, but either the player or mods may submit a weakness to replace it.
100 - Change your monster type (mods randomize from 7 player-provided options)
120 - Change your monster type (mods randomize from 3 player-provided options)
120 - Ability to switch between monster and human form once per day. This does not stop cravings, and no monster powers carry over to the human form.
150 - Change your monster type (player's choice).POWERS/ABILITIES
60 - A minor spell or ability, possibly with a time limit (e.g., walk on water for 20 minutes, double strength bonus usable once a day).
80 - Upgrade an existing monster ability.
80 - A summon, or a power tied to a summon (e.g., Stands, Personas). See the FAQ for details.
80 - An intermediate spell or ability. This largely covers powers that don't have a lot of restrictions, but don't affect monsters besides the possessor of the ability.
120 - A major spell or ability.
60 - An additional Travel or Stealth form, no time limit, but restricted to the bestiary's allowed species. (e.g., a rat Pooka with an extra rabbit form)
60 - An additional Travel or Stealth form outside the allowed species, restricted to one consecutive hour a day.
80 - An additional Travel or Stealth form outside the allowed species, no time limit.BUILDINGS
20 - A structure from home no bigger than a two-bedroom apartment.
30 - A structure from home no bigger than a five-bedroom house.
40 - A structure from home no bigger than a mansion.
50 - A significant landmark built for your character (e.g. a castle, housing complex, massive bronze statue). This will be added to Player Locations.
60 - A small town (≤80 small houses).
80 - A magical location or structure no bigger than a five-bedroom house, or the enchantment of a preexisting Ryslig location.
120 - A large city (≤400 houses) that comes with a statue of the character.
20 - A second spell or effect for your magical location.
40 - A third spell or effect for your magical location.

When describing your reward, please be as detailed as possible. Many lower-tier rewards are self-explanatory, but high-tier rewards such as powers, magical items/weapons, and monster modifications especially should be outlined clearly. The mods will be happy to work with you to ascertain a fun and balanced power set.If your character wouldn't outright ask for the reward you want them to have, have them ask for something else and then fill out the backfire field with what you actually want them to have. (Mana is not as good at summoning as Tikbalang, and characters who don't follow her quests to the letter risk the ritual going wrong.) Your backfire should be something that could conceivably result from the actual request.
Please be advised that mods reserve the right to modify or veto a reward that is too incongruous with the setting.

Can I buy gifts for my CR?
Yes, as long as the gift costs 30 coins or fewer, with the exception of monster changes or power upgrades for pets. We may intervene if we notice this being abused.
Can I gift my Mana rewards to other characters after I drop?
Yes! Upon dropping, even things that were originally over 30 coins may be gifted. However, whatever is being gifted must be physical - no powers or monster changes, but pets and items are fine - and anything that was originally magical in nature will be de-powered. If a character were to leave their beloved Pikachu in their friend's care it would no longer know thunderbolt. Similarly, an enchanted sword would become a regular (if perhaps fancy-looking) sword.
This is entirely player choice; unless a player deliberately specifies they are leaving their character's pets/items to someone else, everything will disappear from Ryslig. Furthermore, these particular exceptions are meant for CR/nostalgic purposes, not to give the IC friends of dropped characters an advantage. We will intervene if we see any left-behind items being abused!
Buildings are an exception. They will remain in Ryslig even if the character who bought them has dropped, and retain any magical properties - but may be used by anyone.
Can I buy something belonging to another character, or from another character's canon?
Yes, but with limitations! Anything that would reveal private information about the character it belongs to would not be purchasable without that information redacted. Diaries, computers, etc... belonging to another character would contain no personal information if bought by someone else (except as a gift, in which case the item would go directly to the recipient). If a character were to buy the house of their mentor who has a secret penchant for murder, the bodies they stash in the basement would not come with the house if they did not already know of their existence. Similarly, buildings with secret rooms will not come with those if they were not already aware of them prior to purchase. While this is non-negotiable in cases where only one character is in game, exceptions can be made for cases where both characters are currently in game with the permission of all players involved.
What if I want to buy something that a character in game has already bought through Mana previously?
This doesn't matter! Anything from home bought through Mana is technically a duplicate. That said, when buying items belonging to a character currently in game the permission of that player must be sought first. This applies to both gifts and items belonging to others purchased for your own character. As with above, we may intervene if we notice this being abused.
Can we pool coins for a shared reward?
Yes! This must be for an item or building that everyone in the pool will be using, magical or otherwise. We do not allow the pooling of coins for powers, body modifications or pets. All characters who wish to contribute coins are subjected to a minimum buy-in of 10 coins, and must reply to the initial purchase request to confirm they've given permission for their coins to be used. It's not necessary for each character to contribute the same amount of coins. Exceptions to the minimum buy-in of 10 coins may be made, but only in discussion with the mod team.
Chip-ins must be done ICly, but could be achieved through a backfire if your character doesn't have CR with the one leading the purchase, or wouldn't contribute for any other reason. The one leading the purchase would have to make a note of this when submitting their request, with the ones chipping in through backfire submitting their own comments.
What do you mean by a "magical location"?
Something like the obelisk, a structure with power and mystery behind it that could be used as a location of interest later on. Maybe, like the obelisk, it bleeds in places. Maybe it's a house whose rooms rearrange themselves at will. Maybe it's a statue that teleports around a certain area when no one's looking. Any structure bought with this reward will be added to Player Locations.
What about the universal chargers? How does electricity work now?
Electronic devices brought in from home no longer require a charger to function. They will come with whatever cord they require in canon, and can be plugged into any outlet in Ryslig. Remember, Ryslig's technology and living standards are somewhere around the 1950's, so buildings are wired and have outlets for characters to use.
Buildings purchased with coins will come with electricity, regardless of how far from civilization they are. If you would rather your building not have this, you may indicate that in your request.
So we can't purchase ammo anymore?
Like many of the everyday living components in Ryslig, you can handwave making or purchasing ammo for your weapon. Weapons with unusual or hard-to-find ammo will be discussed at the time of purchase; in many cases, it's fine to just "have" ammo at all times.
So what do you mean, summon/power tied to a summon?
Pets like Pokémon are pretty straightforward -- they're cuddly creatures that can spew fire or throw leaves or what have you. Things like Stands and Personas are a little more nebulous; they're powers that their owners always have access to, but aren't really standalone, separate pets the way Pokémon are. We determined they could be purchased one of two ways:
As a pet: Stands/Personas/Other purchased as a pet are either completely depowered or have powers that will not work on monsters. They can be treated as autonomous.
As a power: Stands/Personas/Other purchased as a power do not exist unless the power is being used. When a character calls on their power, the Stand/Persona/Other appears, uses that power, and then disappears. They are not separate from their user, nor are they autonomous -- they cannot act on their own accord without the user to call on them.
Players may not purchase both. If you purchase your Stand/Persona/Other as a pet, you cannot also buy it as a power.
What counts as a power/ability for pets/summons?
Offensive or environment-changing abilities like elemental attacks (fire-breathing, water cannons, Razor Leaf, etc.) count as abilities that take up a pet's single ability slot. Please note that pet abilities do not work when used directly on a monster! Aesthetic qualities that have no tangible effect and cannot be used to affect the environment in a way that harms or inconveniences monsters do not count. When in doubt, ask below!
Can my pet have babies?
Any pet who's been brought into the game by Mana will effectively be sterile. However, the ability for it to have offspring can be bought as the pet's single ability. Pets may have a maximum of six babies a year, either through litters or through single eggs, depending on which scenario applies. This offspring will be sterile and powerless by default. If the offspring is adopted by another player, that player can then pay Mana to give it an ability, assuming they don't already have another pet with an ability.

1. Would the transformation be completely at-will, or dependent on meeting certain "Swan Princess" criteria (needing to be in a certain place at a certain time for the transformation to happen, for example)?
2. What is the time limit on the transformation? Does it reset automatically at midnight or every 24-hour period?
3. Strengths don't carry over, but what about weaknesses? In a human form, would my vampire be able to go out during the day or touch silver, for example?
4. Vampires are undead and this is largely the reason L would ask for this reward. He misses his heartbeat and a lot of things about being human and frequently wishes he could return to it. During the time he's human each day, could he count on being "alive" for that duration? More importantly, when he returns to being a vampire after the end of that duration, would he effectively need to die again? For the record, I hope the answer is yes because I'm horrible and it seems like a great backfire, just as long as these daily heart attacks don't count toward the memory-sapping death total.
5. This is related to the at-will question, but could a monster with this reward decide not to become human some days (to take a break from the stress of those daily heart attacks?)

Let's say, hypothetically, that someone got their desktop PC back when Tikbalang was still in business, and then neglected to also buy a power adapter for an entire year. Since electronic devices come with everything they need to work by default now, if Marco asked Mana for that adapter, would he have to pay or would it be a freebie? The IC backfire is that Rin didn't ask to change into a mer, he just wanted to change his feeding style. So he's stuck as a mer but still needs to drink blood. At the end of the month, he reverts back to harpy but now feeds off blood.
Is that doable?

I'm thinking of adding a spell (or two) to Yuuri's golem-bear; would projecting the illusion of Yuuri's younger sister be an acceptable 20-coin spell addition?
Also, at the moment it obeys simple 'stay here, go there' related commands-what kind of scope of commands could this be expanded to with 20 more coins? Alternatively, could a 20 coin spell-addition just be used to make it 'emotive', or even speak? (In the same way one of those drawstring dolls does, mind you, but it's speaking all the same)

It's probably pretty obvious I'm asking for a specific scenario so I'll use it as an example.
Basically the idea is for Oliver to ask for one thing, and get a series of monster changes in return. So it might be if I bought three of the lowest tier of monster changes he gets one month of naga, then next month he becomes a kelpie for two.

However as I see now, that type of object would probably cost about 60 coins, and gifts purchased for other characters have to be 30 coins or less.
I guess there's no real harm in asking, though: is there any possible way to work around this? Obviously I don't expect the mods to be willing to wave the rules just because I asked, but I'm wondering if there's a way to still make this doable. Maybe if the broom was incredibly weak and didn't fly very well, or there was a heavy backfire of some sort (on Lucius, since he's the one paying for it)? Or possibly something else entirely, I'm totally open to suggestions of how to make this permissible.
Or, if all else fails: if Lucius got the broomstick to give as a gift but without the magic working (like what happened with his wand), then that would cost 40 coins as an "up to three meters long" object from home I presume...and then later on at some point either he or Draco could pay whatever necessary additional coinage to get the broom magical and flying again? Would this be considered an acceptable workaround?
tl;dr I really don't want to come across like I'm trying to be a jerk and "slip one past" the rules here. I just think this would be a cute/sweet idea for my CR and so would like to explore all possible avenues for making it happen before I give up on it entirely <3

1) For 60 coins, a character can request "A magical item from Ryslig. Mods will design the item, but you should give us an idea of what it should do/be used for." When it says that mods will design the item, does this mean just the overall make/appearance of the item, or the actual item itself? For example, I'd like to request that the item be a mirror, specifically. Is that allowed, or is the purpose of this reward for the item to be a bit more randomized by mods according to what the player asks for it to be able to do?
2) As for what the mirror could do, I was thinking that it would both be unbreakable (because this guy goes through mirrors like nobody's business) and have the ability to show the original appearance of any monster who looked into it. Assuming this is allowed, I was wondering if the mirror would show a person's appearance from when they first arrived in Ryslig, or if it could actually show what somebody looked like before they ever showed up on the peninsula? IE, non-human characters would appear as the originally did in the mirror's reflection, instead of as the human form they take upon arriving. I would be fine with it having either capability, I'm just curious as to what would be allowed.

I'm looking into getting a 'vision' based spell for Noa to use; ideas on limitations are focused on time and amount of use, or maybe remaining 'unblinking' (or even having to close his eyes)...but what I feel really needs to be confirmed is what it is.
The aim of the spell is to give Noa some way of seeing what is underground-specifically in his Basilisk form (since that thing has the power to Dig). I'm not looking for seeing in detail here; just being able to tell if something that isn't dirt is there (IE a buried skeleton or something), within a certain radius.
Ideas for such a spell were either a psuedo 'x-ray' vision, or something more along the lines of vibration sense (AND NOW YOU KNOW WHY VISION WAS IN QUOTES...). ...But over all, the end goal is just 'can tell if something that isn't dirt sits in the way'.
(With any luck, the answer to this can help anyone looking into a 60 coin spell themselves, too...that's my hope anyway.)

Is it possible to do this as part of that human shifting spell? Also is it possible if I can make the duration longer (I'd rather 12 or 24 hours over 8, if possible)? With 12 or 24 hours between each use of the spell? I understand he'll still have monster hunger and have no monster powers while in human form.
I also wanted to know ahead of time if I could change certain details between the resulting appearance and his canon one. It wouldn't be anything major, just what his dominant hand is, his hair and eye colour... for angst reasons, mostly.

1. For a minor power, how much of each would be permissible? Depending on what was asked for/chosen, would there be a time limit, weight limit (for telekinesis), or depth limit (for telepathy, ie, how far it's possible to delve into the minds of others?)
2. Mindreading is a permissions minefield. While this is definitely something L would think to ask for, a lot of players might (very reasonably) not want a nosy detective reading all their introspections with ease. If I'm looking to optimize a major power without much of the game opting out of his ability to use it, would it be possible to bundle a limited version of these abilities (like, communicating wordlessly and picking up on surface thoughts) with something "cooler" like telekinesis?
3. If it's OK to bundle these powers on a limited level, would it be possible to approach it in levels? Like instead of being able to lift the Eiffel Tower with his brain, maybe telekinesis would be limited to 20 lbs or something, or fine motor detail would be a later upgrade (ie, being able to tie or untangle a knot?) Ultimately I'd prefer something like this, like a nerfed Professor X would ultimately be ideal for what I'm going for, with a combo limited mindreading + limited telekinesis.

Time to revisit this question.Now that we have two Pokemon in Ryslig, would their "magical" type resistances and weaknesses still be in effect?So for example, would Shootie's Lampent resist ice and fire magic, immune to damage from physical attacks (fighting and normal).... but also take super effective damage from dark, earth (rock and ground), water, and ghostly magic/attacks? Fire and Ghost type there.
.....Does Touya's Dewott resist fire and water magic; but take super effective damage from grass/plant magic and electricity? Pure water type.
Or is this all just like Pokken Tournament, where all types do equal damage to each other. Ferrum battles in Ryslig!!!!!
Alternatively, monsters aren't Pokemon anyway. Would we keep the type chart, but have Ryslig monster magic completely ignore it. So the Dewott hypothetically still resists the Lampent's fire, but said resistance wouldn't apply to Goblin and Gargoyle fire.

Hey there! I rerolled L's monster, and I'm excitedly designing my new demon. Demons come gratis with pretty much the exact body mod I paid 80 Mana coins for back when my character was a vampire (flight-capable wings) but there aren't really any other major body mods I want (ie, bonus pair of butt wings, etc). I was wondering if I could use my body mod credit for a non-traditional wing type for demons that still fits the demon aesthetic, specifically feathery wings that look like they've been through the wringer. Kind of singed and battered-looking and shabby and dingy and a darker color, like a mockery of a nephilim's wings. Regarding demons, I really like the "fallen angel" aesthetic enough to say that this is worth an 80 coin mod to me personally.
