BASIC INFO ??? MANDATORY CHANGES ● A larger, buffer stature. ● Tough, leathery skin, which may be plain or patterned. ● Tentacles on the face. ● Lizard or insect-like eyes. ● Claws instead of nails. ● Bat or dragon-like wings capable of flight. ● The Insanity. Elder gods can shoot beams of light that make people see nightmares, or just lose their grasp on sanity in general. This is limited to one use a day. ● Kaiju ability. Elder gods can grow to four times their size when angered to go on a rampage. This is limited to one hour a day, non-cumulative. ● A god complex. Elder gods believe they are either divine saviors or harbingers of destruction, and should be worshipped as such. ● A weakness to being perceived. Despite their desire to be worshipped, they prefer to be revered from afar as an unknowable, unseen entity. The longer the focus is on them, the weaker they feel. ● The need to feed by devouring souls. The Elder God accomplishes this by wrapping their tentacles around the victim's face or chest, sucking the soul out through the tentacles' suction cups. [back to top] OPTIONAL CHANGES ● Any psychological changes are welcome! Feel free to pull from real world myths, canon creatures of this variety, or any other source! ● A fog form. This is an exaggerated version of their monster form that appears only during the fog and is a chance to make your monster more "horrifying" during the fog. ● Travel form: the ability to take the form of an angry little dumbo octopus that can travel on land at any time. In this form the character will be able to travel faster, however, they will also be more vulnerable. ● Tentacles anywhere else on the body. ● Fins or fur on limbs. ● A second (functional) head. ● Extra limbs, no number limitations. ● A clubbed tail. ● Dream walking. Elder gods can enter the dreams of others. This is limited to one dream a night. ● Zalgo speak. When an elder god talks, it can sound like incomprehensible nightmare gibberish in order to frighten others. (CW: LOSS OF SANITY, click to open) ● Apart from the hunger for souls, some Elder Gods have a hunger for sanity. These Elder gods can feed by using their insanity beams on their prey, which will have them either descend into a living nightmare, or just lose their grasp on coherent thought in general. Once the Elder God has fed on them, recovery is impossible, leaving the victim unrecognizable from their former self. Have a very specific question in mind? Here's some questions that have been asked in the past!

FIRST OFF:

What sort of monster is this? What does 'limited edition' mean?
This is one of three special monster types introduced during an event in November 2023. The Fog cannot turn her children into any of these monsters on her own accord, so there is no need to opt out of them during the application process. Characters cannot have these monster types permanently. At the moment, the only way to get one of the limited edition monster types is to purchase a one month temp change through the Mana Rewards page.

Can I buy this monster form for two consecutive months? Or four?
No. One month is the limit, and you will need to wait at least one month before you can purchase this same monster type again. So for example, if you spend January as Alien, you can't purchase Alien again until March.

What about switching to a different limited edition monster?
That's allowed! If you'd like to spend one month as Alien, one month as Cryptid and one month as Elder God in a row, go for it!


FEEDING:

So Elder Gods can have two feeding methods?
Correct. The soul feeding is the default that every single Elder God will have, and the sanity feeding is a secondary method of sating hunger that's entirely optional. Please remember to use content warnings when threading out/about this feeding method.

Does the sanity feeding sate an Elder God's hunger fully?
Yes, it does!
